When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.~Kahlil Gibran
I've been a Twitter absentee and I just found out about this so hopefully, I'm not too late. It's already Saturday here, but about half a world away, it's still Friday and I'm determined to get this Peanut Butter Pie post out anyway. It's for Mikey, Jennifer Perillo's husband who passed away so suddenly last weekend. I'm not the only one putting up a peanut butter pie post in honor of Mikey (who, by the way, loved to eat them), hundreds of people are. You can see how some of the pies look like over at TasteSpotting and watch this beautiful video tribute by White On Rice Couple, Diane and Todd.
To honor Mikey, Jennie requested that we make one and share it with our loved ones.

Now, I don't know Mikey nor Jennifer and they don't know me in return, but I do know all about pain and loss. And gratitude, and I hope oftentimes, compassion. This global outpouring of love and support will mean a lot to Jennie and her two young daughters, now and in the future. I know that too.
As I said, it is already Saturday here, and all I can do right now is pull up my best peanut butter pie recipe from my archives. Mikey would've probably liked this, the pie is hidden inside a drippy, delicious chocolate cupcake. This reminds me... my family also liked these very much when I made them a few months ago, so tomorrow I'm baking them again so that I can see the joy on their faces when they once again bite into these.
Much love from Brunei, Jennie.

Thank you, your food looks amazing will be trying some of your recipes and let you know how they turn out! :-)
I love it when people try out my recipes and then let me know whether they like it or even when they don't! It's all a valuable lesson to me and of course, so gratifying that others are even interested in my attempts at cooking.
pie looks wonderful Maya thoughtful tribute

Thank you, Akheela. Wish I could've done more...
Such a sad story. But what a nice tribute going on through the blogsphere. I have to say the chocolate take is really nice.
Greg, it's sad but it's beautiful at the same time to live in a borderless, caring community like ours. Thanks for visiting.
Beautiful tribute...hugs to you.
Hi there, my first time here and I'm loving what I'm seeing.
I heard about this terrible event on Twitter, too. So tragic, yet really beautiful that so many have come together to honor this man's life. I hope it gives Jennifer lots of strength and love to start her recovery.
Your pie looks delicious. Great way to honor a loved one!
Oh my I just went over to Jennifer’s blog and her post made me so sad. I don’t know what happened, but it is always sad when you loose someone you love. I hope these lovely cupcakes will make her feel a bit better.
Hi Yasmeen, thanks for your thoughts on Mikey and Jennie and you're right about the amazing support from the blogging community. Welcome to my kitchen, always happy to have a new blogger land here :-).
Lilly, Jennie lost Mikey last Sunday when he had a heart attack. It was so sudden and she didn't even have time to say goodbye, that was the saddest thing. All the peanut butter pies in the world can't bring him back, but hopefully Jennie knows there are many people out there thinking about her and her girls.
Poor Jenny. I never known a blog could have such powerful effect. Looking at the goodies made in tastespotting, truly brings a lot of bursting bubbles of tear in my heart.
Love the quote too.
Pierre, awww, your little hungry heart is touchingly tender too. Thank you for taking the time to check out the links and tributes. The blogosphere is a powerful world, a world full of human connections.
Your peanut butter pie looks great. My heartfelt condolence to Jennie, Mikey was a great person. Love your photo
